A new era of nursing: Simulation hospital provides students a realistic setting in which to learn

The ribbon cutting of the new $8 million simulation hospital at Pittsburg State University in September formally marked the beginning of a new era of nursing for students in the Irene Ransom Bradley School of Nursing, providing them a more realistic setting in which to learn.

Tavernaro family chosen as Pitt State Honorary Family

On Family Day, junior Olivia Tavernaro’s family was recognized as this year's Honorary Family on a football field that holds some of their most precious memories: it was where her father Bobby played football, her mother Jennifer performed with the dance team, and her grandfather Al Ortolani Sr. became a storied athletic trainer.

Freshman enrollment continues to climb at Pitt State

For the third year in a row, Pittsburg State University has seen an increase in freshman enrollment, which is up nearly 3 percent over 2022.

PSU Athletics to Enshrine Newest Hall of Fame Class

Pittsburg State University Athletics will honor and enshrine its Hall of Fame Class of 2023 next Friday, Oct. 6 at the Bicknell Family Center for the Arts.

Changes at Health Center give students expanded access

Pittsburg State University students now have expanded access to medical care, pharmacy, and behavioral health services on campus and in the region, thanks to a partnership with Community Health Center of Southeast Kansas.

Becoming a Friendship Family enriches lives for international students and American hosts

Angela Martino Lewis may have grown up and lived in Pittsburg her entire life, but she’s now global: she attends campus cultural events, has served as a host to many international students, and since 2018 has participated in Pitt State’s Friendship Family program.

Presentation to explore impact of Gordon Parks

The impact and inspiration of three books by Gordon Parks, a Fort Scott native who became one of the most esteemed image makers of all time, will be discussed in a special presentation by Humanities Kansas at Pittsburg State University’s Axe Library on Oct. 19.
