University Mourns Passing of Former Vice President
Gorilla Nation is mourning the loss of retired PSU Vice President and Professor Emeritus Robert Ratzlaff who passed away on May 19, 2019. Ratzlaff worked at PSU for 40 years.
University Announces New Provost
After a nationwide search, PSU announced Howard Smith, current associate vice president of Enrollment Management and Student Success, as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. He follows Lynette Olson, who is retiring after having served in the position since March 2010.
Alumni Give Back to Automotive Technology
Three of the first students to attend classes in the Kansas Technology Center had such a transformative experience, they reciprocated — and in a big way. As graduates, Dallas Grothusen, Kelly Burgess, and Ted Polzer, went on to become leaders with CNH Industrial. They returned to campus to help the Department of Automotive Technology officially unveil nearly $300,000 worth of heavy equipment donated by the three.
College of Education Presents Awards
A first-grade teacher from a rural school district who struggled with reading as a child, and a physical education teacher from a middle school in a district of 11,227 students who is passing his love of basketball on to youth, were honored during the College of Education’s annual recognition and awards ceremony.
Students Unveil Unique Bike for those in Wheelchairs
A collaborative project by a team of PSU Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering Technology students and Live Well Crawford County means people with mobility challenges now can go on bike rides. Their project is unique: it has room for a wheelchair or bench seating behind the pedaler, and features two 8-foot-long telescoping ramps.
