Pitt State names Driskill as new alumni director

Danielle Driskill, a two-time graduate of Pittsburg State, has been named director of the Alumni and Constituent Relations Office and executive director of the Pittsburg State University Alumni Association.

Pitt State to automatically award Associate of Arts degrees in General Studies as they are earned

At the urging of President Dan Shipp, the Kansas Board of Regents authorized Pittsburg State University to automatically award Associate of Arts degrees in General Studies to students once they’ve met the requirements of the degree. Pitt State will be the first university in Kansas to do so.

Accounting student wins prestigious national award

Colin Webber has achieved excellence as an athlete as an All-MIAA distance runner for the Gorillas and as the Pitt State record holder in the indoor 800m. But he’s also achieved academically, and this summer was one of 50 students in the nation to earn a prestigious national award for his outstanding performance on the CPA exam — an exam taken by 67,000 people.

Tuition at Pitt State to see modest increase

After zero tuition increases in three of the past four years, the Kansas Board of Regents on June 14 approved Pittsburg State University increasing undergraduate tuition for the upcoming academic year by 5 percent, or $146 per semester. Fees also will increase by $45 per semester, bringing the total increase for undergraduate students to $191 per semester.

Students helping to conduct tick research

Pittsburg State University Biology students are working alongside an associate professor this summer to research tick-borne diseases — the leading vector-borne diseases and among the most pressing public health issues in the nation — by surveying Crawford County and Anderson County, Kansas, as part of the state’s annual tick surveillance program.

University announces change to food service management

Aladdin Campus Dining is partnering with Pittsburg State University to provide new food service management at locations across campus for students, staff, faculty, and visitors starting this month.
