President wrapped up final leg of ride at unique company started by grad

Armed with a degree from Pittsburg State University’s Wood Product Manufacturing program, Bob Holloway (BST ‘04) took a leap of faith in 2010 and started his own business in a small town that doesn’t see many visitors, so he and his business partner, also a Pitt State graduate, were thrilled to open the door to Pitt State President Dan Shipp.

Technology teacher, students win national awards

Pittsburg State University technology education professor Byron McKay earned the Leader of the Year award from The Council for STEM Leadership, and nine students in the Career and Technical Education program brought home national awards, as well.

Two area educators picked for awards

The College of Education at Pittsburg State University honored two outstanding educators at the spring awards ceremony.

On ride across state, Pitt State president met with Lieutenant Governor

Before departing Topeka to pedal to Emporia — the fourth leg of his 12-day, 800-mile bike trip across Kansas to raise $8 million in scholarships and get to know the state — President Dan Shipp met with Lt. Gov. David Toland.

Pitt State media production students win 12 statewide awards

Media Production students at Pittsburg State University captured 12 awards at this year’s state competition by the Kansas Association of Broadcasters. They received the awards in a ceremony on May 2 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City, Missouri.

Pitt State announces new band director, assistant professor of music

A new director of athletic bands and assistant professor of music has been hired by Pittsburg State University and will be joining the Department of Music in August. The athletic bands program includes the Pride of the Plains Marching Band — one of the largest organized groups of students on campus.
